SCOTCH COLLEGE  ADELAIDE

Welcome to Scotch College

A HOLISTIC EDUCATION AND WHOLE OF LIFE PREPARATION

The Scotch College boasts 100 years of tradition and provides holistic education to all students from reception to year 12.

This education is not just for the here and now. Students are made regularly aware of their responsibility to give back to a world which needs constant problem-solving, patient understanding, original thinking and concerted, strategic action.
Whether as professionals, citizens or parents, our students’ long term wellbeing means that the world can be a better place because they have walked in it.

About Scotch College

Scotch College is not a school.  It is a way of life.

Student Leadership & Creativity

The Scotch School supports students to explore creativity and learn leadership in a positive environment through their performing arts experiences. Students also learn music, dance, and theater, and learn how to develop skills to collaborate with others.
Scotch has a number of performing arts facilities, including one of South Australia's few heritage theaters built in 1885 by the Bar Smith family.
The theater was restored in 1981 and now provides performance and studio space for many activities. Other facilities include an outdoor amphitheater, a restored Victorian parlor, an extensive music suite, a 'Sound House' music tech room and recording studio, a chapel and dance studio.

Student Wellbeing

"To develop engaged and connected learners who possess the knowledge, commitment and passion to enhance their own and others' lives."

Our wellbeing program encompasses preventative and positive psychology and stems from the belief that it is only when we are at our best, that we can help others to be theirs. Student wellbeing initiatives take proactive action to support our young people to develop healthy minds, heathy bodies and healthy attitudes towards themselves and others.

Boarding

All boarders are provided with numerous opportunities to develop their life skills. Our healthy bodies program held weekday mornings includes running, gym, walking, yoga and swimming. Most days, boarders engage with the strong co-curricular activities offered by the school in the sports, performing arts, oratory, new arts, STEM and Entrepreneurship programs.

On weekends activities are offered which range from Go Karting, Horse Riding, Bowling, Laser Skirmish, Paintballing, Socials with other schools, Adventure Rooms just to name a few.

Throughout the year other Enhancement Activities are offered such as First Aid, Responsible Service of Alcohol, Defensive Driving and Boat Licence. These are designed for the boarders to gain qualifications and enhance their employability skills.

Some boarders choose to pursue part time employment. We aim to replicate the opportunities that a typical Adelaide teenager may have available to them.
